Description

These coins are backed by the United States government. Although the U.S. Mint no longer distributes circulation coins with actual silver and gold content, the face value attached to these coins means that they can still be used as currency at any U.S. establishment. Not that you’d ever want to spend these coins on products or services; the silver content makes these coins far more valuable than half a dollar each.

Each coin contains 0.1475 ozt of pure silver content. Coins will be shipped out as an assortment of years between 1965 and 1969.

The obverse of the Silver Kennedy Half Dollar is a portrait of President John F. Kennedy. The word “liberty” is inscribed above his head, and the phrase “in God we trust” and the mint year are inscribed below. For millions of Americans, Kennedy symbolizes a golden age in American optimism; his assassination marks one of the most traumatic moments in recent American history.

On the reverse, a modified version of the American Presidential seal is centered, along with an inscription of “The United States of America,” as well as the face value of the coin. The motto of the United States, “E pluribus unum,” is inscribed on a banner within the seal, which depicts a bald eagle holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its mighty talons.
