1/10oz 2022 Spanish Gold Doubloon Iberian Lynx

The Iberian Lynx is one of the rarest types of Lynx, mainly occupying the sand dunes and forests of Spain and Portugal. With roughly 1000 left in the world, the Lynx is considered highly endangered. These spotted wild cats mainly feeds on rabbits and hares, while occasionally consuming ducks and fish, too. However, there has been a great reduction in the Lynx’s prey base, which has partly contributed to the overall decline of this beautiful species.

The obverse of the 2022 1/10 oz Proof Royal Spanish Mint Iberian Lynx Coin features the Pillars of Hercules. Inscribed on these pillars are the words PLUS ULTRA, which is Spain’s official motto and translates to Further Beyond. Between these ancient pillars are a pair of crowned globes, which represent the meeting of two hemispheres. Inscriptions read Felipe Vi Rey De Espana, 1/10 Onza 999.9 Oro.

On the reverse side of 2022 Proof Royal Spanish Mint Gold Coins, there is a depiction of an Iberian Lynx. This majestic wild cat is shown in close-up with its head positioned slightly towards the left. There are inscriptions on the reverse reading 15 Euro Cent, 2022, Lince Iberico.
